The first studio album of the band is called Cross and was released in June 2007. The album was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Electronic/Dance Album. It took the 15th position in the ranking “Top 50 Albums of 2007” according to Pitchfork and the 18th place in the list “25 Best Albums of 2007” compiled by Blender. The album was nominated for the 2007 Shortlist Music Prize but lost to the album The Reminder by Feist.

History

Justice is an electronic music project consisting of two musicians, Gaspard Augé and Xavier de Rosnay, founded in 2003 in Paris, France. The group initially attracted the attention of listeners because of numerous remixed tracks of other bands and quickly became associated with the well-known French record label Ed Banger Records. They combined styles of electronic dance music with features of rock and electro-houe.

The first self-composed album of Justice – Cross (†) – was released in 2007. This album turned out to be very successful both commercially and critically and helped the band become known for their role in the electro music revival. It featured such notable tracks as D.A.N.C.E., Genesis, and Phantom.

Their second album Audio, Video, Disco was marked by the presence of stronger rock features in its music. Next, in 2016, the group released a third album – Woman – characterized by the presence of funk and disco features. The final studio album – Woman Worldwide – received a Grammy award in the category Best Dance/Electronic Album.

International fame came for Justice when they released their first studio album, titled Cross, in June 2007. In this album, the group fused together sounds of electro-house, rock, funk, and disco genres to create an innovative and distinct music style that made them stand out. Throughout their career, Gaspard Augé and Xavier de Rosnay make use of vintage synths, software, drum machines, and extensive sampling. Justice uses layered arrangements, dynamic sound compression, and cinematic transitions to enhance the power of their productions.

As far as their live performances go, Justice has been known to use various electronic equipment, MIDI controllers, synthesizers, as well as sophisticated light effects designed especially for their music.
